The general public does not
know the meaning, or the
definition of, reclaimed
wastewater.

If you or your children
come into contact or get
wet with reclaimed
wastewater, wash with soap
and water ASAP, especially
before drinking, eating or
preparing food.

Know what you are putting into your
glass before you drink!

Did You Know

  • Reclaimed wastwater is filtered
    and treated sewer water!
  • Reclaimed wastewater comes from
    homes, office buildings, industrial
    plants and businesses.
  • The sewer water is from toilets,
    sinks and drains that flow through
    the sewer system to the
    sewage plant.

reclaimed
wastewater to:
  1. Any
    other
    source
    of water.
  2. Any
    dwelling
    unit.
  3. Cooling
    towers.
  4. Air
    Conditioners.
  5. Hose
    bibbs.
Do Not
water or irrigate
your
vegetable
garden
(lettuce, cabbage, tomato, etc.)
or certian susceptible
vegetation with reclaimed
wastewater.

  • Do Not bathe or wash with
    rclaimed wastewater.
  • Never wash your pets with
    reclaimed wastewater.
  • Keep pets away from
    lawn when
    sprinklers are
    running!

Do Not let your reclaimed
wastewater sprinklers spray
excessively on:

Keep reclaimed wastewater irrigation contained on
your property.

Should you have any questions regarding the use
or safety of reclaimed wastewater, contact your
water supplier, the Department of Environmental
Protection or your local Health Department.

Avoid breathing aerosols caused bt
reclaimed wastewater sprinklers.

Do Not let reclaimed wastewater
spray on toys, outdoor eating tables or
any place close to any eating areas.

Do Not Bring Wet

  • newspapers (remove wet plastic bag)
  • toys
  • tools
  • or other items
into the house, if they have been
on a lawn or walkway that
has been watered by reclaimed
wastewater.

Reclaimed
wastewater can
contain the
following:

aluminum,
molybdenum,
chromium, copper,
iron, lead, nickel,
manganese,
magnesium, potassium,
sodium, zinc, boron,
giardia, fecal coliforms,
cryptosporidium,
entamoeba, and other
parasites and bacteria,
calcium, nitrogen,
phosphous (liguid
fertilizer).
