RP Field Test
Preparation
- NOTIFY CUSTOMER
- INSPECT AREA
- FLUSH TESTCOCKS (open 4, 3, 2, 1, then close 1, 2, 3, 4)
- INSTALL FITTINGS
- INSPECT TEST KIT - CLOSE ALL NEEDLE VALVES

Test #1 - Test Check valve #1 for tightness
- ATTACH HIGH HOSE TO TESTCOCK 2
- ATTACH LOW HOSE TO TESTCOCK 3
- OPEN TESTCOCK 3 SLOWLY then OPEN LOW BLEED
- OPEN TESTCOCK 2 SLOWLY then OPEN HIGH BLEED
- CLOSE BLEEDS - HIGH FIRST, LOW LAST
- CLOSE OUTLET SHUT-OFF VALVE
- OBSERVE CV 1 - (RECORD as CLOSED TIGHT or LEAKING)

Test #2 - Record relief valve opening point
- OPEN HIGH CONTROL VALVE 1 FULL TURN
- PLACE HAND UNDER VENT
- OPEN LOW CONTROL SLIGHTLY
- NO MORE THAN 1/4 TURN
- RECORD RV OPENING > or = 2.0 psi
- CLOSE LOW CONTROL

Test #3 - Observe whether CV 2 Leaks or closed tight
- BLEED VENT (BY-PASS) HOSE
- ATTACH VENT HOSE TO TESTCOCK 4
- CLOSE VENT (BY-PASS) CONTROL
- OPEN TESTCOCK 4
- RESET GAUGE - (LOW BLEED)
- OPEN VENT CONTROL ONE FULL TURN
- OBSERVE WHETHER RELIEF VALVE VENT DRIPS
(If the Relief Valve drips, RESET GAUGE [low bleed] , If Relief Valve drips a second rime, then Check Valve 2 has failed and must be repaired)
Close Vent Control ONLY if CV 2 leaks
- RECORD CV2 as CLOSED TIGHT or LEAKING

Test #4 - Record CV 1
- RESET GAUGE - (LOW BLEED)
- RECORD CV 1 DIFFERENTIAL (3.0 psi > RV opening)
|

 |
Test #5 - Record Outlet Shutoff Valve
- CLOSE TESTCOCK 2 – WAIT & CHECK GAUGE FOR LEAKS IN OUTLET SHUTOFF VALVE
- (RECORD as CLOSED TIGHT or LEAKING)
If there is NO flow through the assembly, continue to next test

Test #6 - Record differential pressure across CV 2
- CLOSE VENT CONTROL
- CLOSE TESTCOCKS 3 & 4
- REMOVE VENT HOSE FROM TESTCOCK 4
- MOVE LOW HOSE TO TESTCOCK 4
- MOVE HIGH HOSE TO TESTCOCK 3
- OPEN TESTCOCK 4 SLOWLY then OPEN LOW BLEED
- OPEN TESTCOCK 3 SLOWLY then OPEN HIGH BLEED
- CLOSE HIGH BLEED FIRST, CLOSE LOW BLEED SLOWLY
- RECORD CV 2 DIFFERENTIAL > or = 1.0 PSI

Final Steps
- CLOSE TESTCOCKS - REMOVE ALL EQUIPMENT
- OPEN ALL NEEDLE VALVES ON TEST KIT
- OPEN OUTLET SHUT-OFF VALVE SLOWLY
